March 16, 2020, the entire island of Luzon, Philippines was placed under quarantine due to a growing number of COVID-19 cases, forcing almost all businesses to close. With businesses closed, suspended public transport & slow government's response to the crisis, poor families of daily wage earners were left unsure of where to get food for their families! Right now, things are slowly going back to normal however the number of COVID-19 cases is still rising. Please help us give nutritious meals to thousands of families affected.
Before the COVID-19 situation, we used to gather the kids in one place and feed them or prepare meals for them in lunchboxes that they bring to school for lunch. Now we pack the meals in paper containers and bring them personally to the homes of the children! In Kamuning, QC, a large community, we opted to give food packs for the whole family to maintain order.

Since the lockdown began, she and her children have been forced to stay in their small house beside the river in Brgy. Bagumbayan, Quezon City. She has no way to earn a living, no means of providing food for her children.
“I thank the Lord for Reach Out Feed Philippines and CCF Eastwood We CARE (our partner in the field) who help feed my kids. I don’t know how to provide for them especially now that I can’t work because of COVID-19 lockdown. This is a huge help for a single mom like me.”
Challenge
As of June 26, there are 33,069 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. With companies forcibly closed or with a skeletal workforce and public transport in partial operation, families of daily wage earners are left vulnerable to HUNGER. Immediate help is needed to provide decent meals for these families. Priority will be on children and pregnant women who are the most affected as they do not have access to meals that meets their nutritional needs.

Long-Term Impact
Reach Out and Feed Philippines remains true to its vision to see every Filipino child healthy, nourished and empowered to reach their maximum potential for growth and learning. At this time of crisis, the daily wage earners are UNABLE to provide food for their children. Please help us in protecting these kids from HUNGER and MALNUTRITION.
Solution
People are in need of food assistance as they are restricted to go out of their homes to avoid further spread of COVID-19. These relief meal packs will be given to affected families with priority on children and pregnant women to ensure that they have food not only to address hunger but will also meet their nutritional needs.
“I see happiness in my kids whenever we receive meals from you,” says Lilian, a mother of five.
The father of her children is in jail. Lilian had him imprisoned because of his drug habit. “Even if it means my having to raise the children alone, I’d rather see him behind bars” she says.
Before the quarantine, she made a living by peddling sampaguita flowers along Katipunan Avenue and sometimes by cleaning condo units at Eastwood City.
